This is a great video showing how the fascial system works and how chronic pain can develop when the fascia becomes compromised by injury or illness. Although it doesn’t specifically talk about Fibromyalgia it does feature chronic pain.

Highlighting the advantages of the John Barnes Myofascial Release massage therapy, this video is very informative. It shows graphically the fascial system enabling the viewer to understand fully the importance and relevance of receiving Myofascial Release massage therapy for chronic pain.

In this video Qigong expert Lien Ho demonstrates simple but very effective Myofascial Release stretches.

She recommends that you hold the stretches for a period of 3 minutes to get the best results. Holding long stretches can seem almost impossible at first to the Fibromyalgia sufferer but with time you can build up slowly.

At first I could only hold the stretches for 30 seconds but after about a two week period of daily stretching I built it up to 3 minutes. The results were amazing for me in terms of pain relief and also seeing visible firming of my arms and legs and returning definition and tautness to my muscles. I looked at felt so much slimmer.

In this video fitness expert Joe Garcia outlines the various types of Self Myofascial Release technique tools available. These are tools you can try at home.

To be honest I bought various Myofascial foam rollers, sticky balls and other tools in my attempt to allow my fascia to become healthy and relieve my Fibromyalgia pain. I found using the tools difficult and often eneded up with many bruises.

I did not get the results I wanted so I chose to see an expert Myofascial Release practioner instead. And along with the Qigong Myofascial Release stretches I got the results I wanted.
